Point of Sale Module

POS Software in Nepal — Barcode Billing, Shifts and IRD E-Billing

A fast, keyboard-first counter that posts real sales invoices, real receipts and real stock movements — not a separate till that needs reconciling at night.

One sale, one set of books

Many POS systems in Nepal are standalone tills. They print a bill, then someone re-enters the day's sales into the accounting software — and the stock never quite matches. Udyot's POS is layered over the same accounting and inventory engine as the rest of the ERP.

A completed counter sale posts two real vouchers: a sales invoice and a receipt that settles it. The general ledger, 13% VAT, stock ledger and perpetual Stock-in-Hand / COGS entries are identical to a hand-keyed invoice. The POS tables only add the retail layer — terminals, shifts, tenders, held carts and promotions.

That means the counter, the godown and the accountant are always looking at the same numbers. Add Restaurant or Pharmacy when the counter needs a specialised workflow.

Capabilities

Built for the speed of a real counter

Keyboard-first, hardware-ready and compliant from the first bill.

Fast sell screen

Scan or search, adjust quantity, apply a discount and take payment without touching a mouse. 80 mm receipts print in one keystroke.

Shifts and Z-reports

Open with a float, close by counting the drawer. Variance posts to the ledger and the Z-report gives the owner a clean day-end.

Every tender, split or single

Cash, card, wallet and split payments. Walk-ins pay in full; named customers can buy on credit against their ledger.

Promotions and loyalty

Percentage off, rupees off, buy-X-get-Y, coupon codes, loyalty points and gift cards — configured in POS setup.

IRD e-billing built in

CBMS pushes in real time, sequential BS-year invoice numbers, immutable tax invoices and an automatic retry queue.

Retail analytics

Sales analytics, sessions and Z-reports show what sold, through which terminal, at what margin — without a separate BI tool.

How it works

A day at the counter

Open the shift
Choose the terminal and enter the opening cash float. The session is now tied to that cashier and drawer.
Sell and print
Scan items, take payment in one or more tenders, and print the 80 mm receipt. Stock and VAT post immediately.
Handle returns and offers
Refund against a receipt with a credit note, redeem a gift card or apply a coupon — all within the same shift.
Close and reconcile
Count the drawer, close the shift, print the Z-report, and let the variance post to the ledger automatically.

A bill the IRD accepts, every time

Nepal's Electronic Billing Procedure requires sequential invoice numbers, prescribed content and real-time reporting for CBMS-enabled businesses. Udyot's POS was built against those rules: a tax invoice can never be edited or deleted, corrections are credit notes, and a lost internet connection queues bills instead of blocking the queue at your counter.

FAQs

POS software in Nepal — common questions

Yes. Every bill can push to the IRD Central Billing Monitoring System in real time. If the connection drops, selling never stops: bills queue locally and re-sync automatically, flagged as batch submissions. Invoice numbers stay sequential per BS fiscal year.
Yes. Udyot supports barcode scanners, 80 mm ESC/POS thermal printers, cash drawers and a second-monitor customer display. Barcode labels can be printed from the POS setup, and quick keys let the counter sell common items without searching.
A cashier opens a shift with a cash float, sells through the day, and closes by counting the drawer. Udyot produces a Z-report with the expected versus counted cash, and posts the variance to the general ledger so the shortage or surplus is accounted for.
Yes. A completed sale posts a real sales invoice and a receipt through the same engine as a hand-keyed invoice. Stock leaves the godown, COGS posts, 13% VAT is recorded and the customer ledger is updated — no end-of-day import.
Yes. The POS includes loyalty and membership, gift cards, coupon codes and automatic offers such as percentage off, rupees off and buy-X-get-Y. Weighed items and scale integration are supported for grocery and meat counters.
A return against a receipt creates a real credit note and a refund, keeping the original invoice untouched. Because tax invoices are immutable, the credit note is the correct IRD-compliant correction rather than an edit.
