Supply Chain Overview
The Udyot Supply Chain (SCM) module helps you buy better and move stock smarter. It covers the full procurement loop — finding the right vendor, requesting quotes, receiving and inspecting goods, and transferring stock between your locations — with vendor performance scoring built in so you always know who delivers best value.
What’s inside Supply Chain
- Vendor management & scorecard: A profile and performance rating for every supplier — see Vendor Management & Scorecard.
- Request for Quotation (RFQ): Ask several vendors to quote, then compare — see RFQ & Vendor Quotations.
- Goods Receipt & quality: Receive against a purchase order with an accept/reject quality check — see Goods Receipt & Quality Inspection.
- Stock transfers: Move inventory between warehouses — see Stock Transfers Between Locations.
- Reorder rules: Automatic low-stock alerts and suggested buy quantities — see Reorder Rules & Low Stock Alerts.
Before you begin
Enable the SCM module under Settings → Modules (see Module Management). Your suppliers should exist as party ledgers, and your warehouses as godowns.
How procurement flows
- Stock runs low — reorder rules or MRP flag what to buy.
- You raise an RFQ, collect vendor quotes, and pick the best.
- You issue a Purchase Order.
- Goods arrive — you record a Goods Receipt with a quality check; accepted goods enter stock and the supplier balance updates.
Tips & common questions
Is SCM separate from buying on a Purchase invoice? You can always record a simple Purchase invoice in Accounting. SCM adds structure — quotes, receipts, inspection, and vendor scoring — for businesses that want procurement discipline.
