POS Dashboard and Analytics

Two owner-facing pages turn counter activity into decisions: a live dashboard for “how is today going”, and sales analytics for “what should I stock, promote, and staff for”. Both report net of returns, and neither is ever inflated by gift-card sales — stored value is a liability until spent.

The dashboard

POS → Shift → Dashboard shows live takings sliced four ways — by till, by cashier, by tender, and by hour — and refreshes itself roughly every 30 seconds. Use it mid-shift to spot a queue building on one till or a cashier’s drawer running hot on cash.

Sales analytics

POS → Shift → Sales Analytics answers three merchandising questions:

  • What sells together — item pairings with lift, for planning shelf placement and bundle promotions.
  • When you are busy — a day × hour heatmap of transactions, for rostering.
  • What actually earns — top items ranked by revenue net of returns, with an estimated margin from moving-average cost.

Because margins come from the same moving-average cost your accounts use, an item that looks like a star on turnover but earns nothing shows up honestly here.

Sessions and Z-reports

POS → Shift → Sessions keeps every closed shift with its cash reconciliation and the automatic over/short journal reference — the audit trail behind the analytics. See shifts, cash drawer and Z-reports for the closing routine.

Where the rest of the numbers live

Because every counter sale is a real invoice, POS activity also appears everywhere your accounting reports do — the sales register, VAT returns and IRD annexes, party ledgers for named credit customers, and stock reports. The analytics pages are a lens, not a separate set of books.
