Services Module Overview
The Services module makes Udyot ERP work for businesses that sell time and expertise rather than boxes — consultancies, agencies, repair and AMC providers, and any firm billing recurring fees. It adds four capabilities on top of the accounting core:
- Service items — named, priced, VAT-defaulted catalog entries for things you sell that are not physical goods (e.g. “Website Maintenance — Rs 25,000/month”), usable anywhere a stock item is: Sales vouchers, CRM quotations, even the POS counter — without ever touching inventory.
- TDS Receivable — record the tax a client withholds from your fee at the moment they pay, so your books and your advance-tax claim stay accurate.
- Service Contracts / AMC — set up recurring billing once, then generate each period’s invoice with a click.
- Projects & Timesheets — log billable hours against a customer project and turn unbilled time into an invoice whenever you are ready.
Turning it on
The module requires Accounting. If Settings → Modules → Services shows “Disabled by Admin”, that is a platform-level flag separate from your company settings — contact support to have it enabled for your account, then switch it on per company like any other module.
How it fits the rest of the system
Nothing in Services runs on a side ledger. A service sale is a normal Sales invoice (clean revenue and VAT, no stock movement, no cost of goods sold); a contract’s generated bill is a normal invoice too; and billed timesheet hours land on an invoice that flows into the same VAT return and receivables as everything else. That also means the same rules apply — an issued tax invoice is final, and corrections go through credit notes.
